Abstract

This study aims to improve students' understanding of Science, specifically on the topic of Objects and Their Properties, through the application of the experimental method in class V at SD Inpres Weetebula II. The research used is Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a descriptive qualitative approach. The research was conducted in two cycles, each consisting of four stages: planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 20 fifth-grade students, consisting of 9 female students and 11 male students. Data were collected through tests and observations, and then analyzed using descriptive techniques. The results of the study showed a significant improvement in student learning outcomes. In Cycle I, the average class score was 56.47, with only 47.05% of students reaching the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). However, in Cycle II, after improvements were made, the average class score increased to 83.68, with 84.21% of students achieving KKM. This improvement indicates that the experimental method can enhance students' understanding, foster enthusiasm, and increase student participation in learning. Nevertheless, challenges such as student absenteeism remain an issue that needs attention. Overall, the application of the experimental method proved effective in improving students' understanding of Science and promoting more interactive and collaborative learning
